I Want to Work at Fox News

Strong positions and opinions abound when it comes to Fox News. On one hand, it is the most popular cable news network. It is the only news medium that tells the truth, attempting to reveal the bias which drives the news coming out of the traditional liberal bastion that is the news media. They are the only ones who hold politicians accountable for their actions and their statements. It is the most trusted cable news network. As a result of this exemplary record everyone else is trying to imitate Fox News and its model of success.

On the other hand, Roger Ailes, longtime Fox News chairman, was forced to resign following numerous allegations of sexual harassment came to light when former Fox News anchor Gretchen Carlson filed a lawsuit against him. Outfoxed, a 2004 documentary, delineates the multiple methods by which Fox News promotes and advocates right-wing positions. And it drives Republican vote shares.

The network has been accused of blurring the line between news and opinion. Many of their commentators are not journalists or experts. They manipulate factsMake up facts. And deny facts.

Former Fox News host Andrea Tantaros, who recently filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the network, alleges, “Fox News masquerades as a defender of traditional family values, but behind the scenes, it operates like a sex-fueled, Playboy Mansion-like cult, steeped in intimidation, indecency and misogyny”.

I would love to be a part of the most trusted name in news. One that tells the truth and holds politicians accountable. In many demonstrable ways news is only opinion. Facts are not objective. I’m not a journalist or an expert but I know how to misconstrue and manipulate information to fit a narrative. And it’d be great to make a difference.

Fox News sounds tremendous. I could work there. Except for all the sexual harassment. I don’t want to do that.
